Grenadier goblin

My latest project. A Grenadier goblin from 1985, I think. Not sure how I'll proceed, but I've given him a custom oval base. I'm thinking the orcs and goblins I have will look better together if they have narrow bases and can squeeze tightly together. We'll see.

Battle Lord

The tab on this model says Battle Lord, 1985.  He's listed on Stuff of Legends as 'Gustavus'. He started out all blue, but I was encouraged to do the helmet metallic, and I felt a bit of heraldry in a non-garish colour might be nice. I'm quite pleased with the result as I thought the sculpt looked quite goofy.

Sentry imp

I don't know what this miniature is, it was a free gift in an ebay purchase. If anyone knows anything about it, please let me know. I think this is the first time I've painted a model without any metallic paint.

He's probably supposed to be riding, given the sitting posture, but in the absence of steed I've given him an old rock to perch tensely on. Not sure whoever carved those symbols would approve.

He really is tiny, as you can see here. Surprisingly well sculpted I think, the definition of the leg muscles in particular is impressive 💪.

River Troll part II

I've made him a scenic base. Some of the vegetation looks a little dodgy and indistinct, but I'm quite pleased with it.

River Troll

A Games Workshop River Troll from 1992, sculpted by Michael Perry. Still needs a base, which could be challenging!

Night Goblin #3

Here's the last of the three GW night goblins currently in my possession. Again from around 1992, probably from the same set, here's a standard-bearer.

I wasn't sure what to put on the banner. At first I tried a pine tree at the wife's suggestion, but it looked like a Christmas tree. I think the moon turned out OK. It was also pointed out that his outfit makes him look like Mother Theresa. Oh well.

I think there's at least one half-focused picture in there.

The banner was originally meant to be wrapped around the pole, as seen here. I settled on flapping-in-the-wind. Just a bit more dynamic.
